Who is covered
Property owners with a DEP-required backflow prevention assembly — common where there is a boiler, cooling tower, or non-residential water use.
What the law requires
- Confirm the DEP-approved backflow device/plan on file for the property.
- Schedule the annual test with a NYS-certified backflow tester before the prior test lapses.
- Have a Licensed Master Plumber co-sign the test report.
- File the report with DEP and retain confirmation.
